FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

You Asked, I Answered

CAN YOU GIVE ME SOME DESIGN IDEAS OR SUGGESTIONS FOR MY OWN PROJECTS?

Unfortunately I do not currently have the time or resources to offer any kind of consultation services. I hope that you're able to get some good ideas, inspiration and tips from my YouTube tutorials, Facebook videos, Instagram Stories and TikToks.

WHAT KIND OF SPRAYER DO YOU USE OR RECOMMEND?

Pneumatic:

I taught my self to spray paint with a gravity fed HVLP pneumatic spray gun that is powered by a 30+ gallon air compressor. I use models that come with a 600cc cup and a 1.4mm tip. I had great success with all of the water based products that I use on my furniture pieces with that system.

Electric:

When our air compressor started to break down I decided to try out an entry level electric turbine sprayer with a Wagner FLEXIO 590. It's a great entry level/beginner friendly tool that easy to learn and can produce professional results. I also now have a FLEXIO 3000 model and it works well too.

These are the only sprayers that I've tried so I can't offer any advice or suggestions on other options.

WHAT KIND OF SANDER DO YOU USE OR RECOMMEND?

I currently have 2 sanders.

Surf Prep 3x4:

I use my Surf Prep 3x4 Electric Ray Sander to sand details and curves but it can also be used to sand larger, flat surfaces.

I use my Surf Prep 5" Orbital Electric Ray Sander to sand large flat surfaces.

I purchased the vacuum compatible sanding systems which include the sander, variety packs of foam abrasives and sandpapers.

The vacuum hose and adaptors are sold separately as they need to be customized to the vacuum that you'll be using with your sander.

I have previously used and loved a Ryobi 5" Random Orbital Sander to sand larger, flat furniture surfaces.

A triangular or "mouse" style sander is a great tool for beginners to have on hand for sanding small areas and details found on furniture without the major investment of a SurfPrep System. I would recommend Ryobi's Corner Cat.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

I work out of my home in Canada. SALVAGED by k. scott was originally located just north of Toronto, Ontario but we've recently moved to the Moncton, New Brunswick area.

DO YOU HAVE A STORE?

No. I do not currently have a traditional retail space. My refinished pieces are currently being donated to a local charity.

PIECES FOR SALE

I am not currently selling my refinished furniture to the public. Most of the pieces that I refinish are now being donated to a local charity.

CAN YOU REFINISH MY FURNITURE?

Unfortunately I do not take any custom refinishing jobs.

CAN I DROP OFF FURNITURE THAT I WANT TO GET RID OF?

I do not accept furniture donations or purchase furniture through this platform. Please contact your local Habitat for Humanity ReStore or other local thrift store to see if they can help you find a new home for your furniture.
